Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius
What are the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius?
St. Ignatius of Loyola created the Spiritual Exercises in the 16th century. There are many ways to engage in the spiritual exercises (as you can see below), but one of the most common is to do a “retreat in everyday life" (the 19th annotated version). The person commits to one hour of daily prayer, meeting weekly with a spiritual director, a process that lasts roughly 6-10 months. This is SUCH a transforming journey if one is committed to the process.
